Recovery after Hurricane Sandy

Amanda Moreno Amanda Moreno November 2, 2012

It’s been a tough week for all who had to endure the destructive path of Hurricane Sandy. If you were in Sandy’s path, we truly hope that you kept safe during the storm, and our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Knovel’s headquarters are in midtown Manhattan, and many of our employees live in Long Island, Manhattan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Connecticut.  We are pleased to report our employees are all safe and sound.  For many of our colleagues, friends and neighbors, there is  a long road to recovery ahead.  Electricity is still out, gas is scarce and public transportation is a nightmare. Our office is open for those who can make it in.  For some, it’s a welcomed oasis of heat and electricity they don’t have at home.

Superstorm Sandy caused severe flooding, damage and destruction throughout the East Coast, and New York City alone suffers an estimated $20 billion in damages.

The road to recovery demand much time and resources, but tough times usually bring out the best in people. Acts of kindness mean everything to those in need.  Whether you have time to volunteer or money to donate, it’s appreciated greatly.

Knovel, for its part, will match employee donations to the American Red Cross or a similar organization helping with recovery.

Below is a list of a few useful resources for those of you in the New York Area:

If anyone has suggestion to add to this list, please add comments below or reach out to us on Twitter.
